Evergreen Valley Community College Lake, San Jose, CA.

Evergreen Valley College, Lake Renovation. San Jose, CA – 2006.   Landarc Associates redesigned and prepared construction plans for an existing lake at the community college due to problems with water quality, edge failure and the failing pedestrian bridge safety concerns. Landarc Associates improved pedestrian circulation for the lake users, designed informational signage and lighting for safety and provided handicap access to all new walks and existing walks and provided large resting areas to allow seating and handicap seating at overlook areas. Landarc resolved water quality concerns due to wild life and created natural planting deterrents for geese and ducks. As a part of the design, the one million gallon lake was drained and a organic bio filtration system was built to filter the water with beneficial bacteria prior to reintroducing it through three aeration fountains floating in the lake to provide an aesthetically pleasing and biologically cleaner water for the lake. The construction budget was 2.25 million dollars.
