Lodge Reconstruction / Yosemite National Park. Yosemite, California 1998

While employed with Sasaki Associates Scott Fornaciari managed design
development and construction documents for a 65 acre site on an existing
lodging site within the Yosemite Valley. Work included proposed sewer,
gas, electrical, phone, and water lines to serve the new architecture. The
design provided sensitivity and protection to existing vegetation and
historical and cultural elements while providing the NPS with a design
that met program needs. Site design constraints included providing a
5% grade on all proposed walks and implementation of universal access
philosophy. Large snowmelt drainage channels also were directed through
the site with sensitivity for aesthetic concerns as well as existing vegetation.
Site construction costs for proposed infrastructure, roads, and site related
improvements are estimated at 21 million dollars.

Scott's role involved the preparation and coordination of design develop-
ment and construction documents for new construction at Yosemite
National Park. This work included the coordination of Sasaki team
members consisting of architects, landscape architects, civil engineers,
electrical engineers and various subconsultants. Mr. Fornaciari
was the primary contact for the consultant's technical coordination
and reviewed the civil engineering drawings for thoroughness and
coordination of design and drawing content. Mr. Fornaciari also was
responsible for setting up the initial coordination and maintenance
of CADD documents with all subconsultants and with Sasaki architects
working on the lodging design. This work included coordination of the
Sasaki FTP site and the distribution of site files and coordination of
plotting drawing sets with approximately 500 sheets.
